MOTORWAY A1, SALZBURG, REHABILITATION OF ROAD, BRIDGE AND NOISE PROTECTION
In 2020, extensive renovation measures will be carried out on the A1 West Autobahn in the section from Salzburg Messe to the Salzburg junction. In addition to roadway rehabilitation over a length of approx. 5 km, new noise barriers with an effective height of up to 6.0 m and a total area of approx. 16,500 m2 will be erected over 3.8 km. Furthermore, 7 bridges will be adapted, 3 bridges extended and 17 new overhead signposts will be erected.
Due to the extremely high traffic rates in the relevant section in connection with the mandatory upkeep of several lanes over the entire construction period and the course of the motorway in the inner city area with a large number of junctions, the measures required very precise engineering.
When rehabilitating the pavement, the existing concrete carriageway is always provided with a black topping. The design of the pavement rehabilitation was carried out by davitech GmbH on behalf of convex ZT GmbH.
The new noise protection walls are located along both directional carriageways and consist almost entirely of highly absorbent wood concrete panels. The uniform design concept of sommer architektur has to be considered in the project design.
The new overhead signposts partially span both directional lanes and are designed in different types of construction.
On behalf of ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH, convex ZT GmbH was responsible for the entire execution design as well as the tender preparation of the described construction works.
