ANDRITZ AG is carrying out a complete overhaul of the flue gas cleaning system at the Hamm waste incineration plant in Germany. The Hamm waste incineration plant treats around 280,000 tons of waste from private households and businesses every year, generating electricity and district heating from this waste. In close cooperation with the customer and its general planner, ANDRITZ has developed a customized concept for the gradual renewal of the four existing flue gas cleaning lines, which will enable the incineration plant to continue operating with virtually no disruption during the conversion. ANDRITZ is supplying four new state-of-the-art flue gas cleaning lines. The lines use the proven TurboSorp process based on a circulating fluidized bed and catalytic denitrification. The three-stage system cleans the flue gases from combustion in such a way that the waste incineration plant’s emissions will in future be well below the legally prescribed limits of the amended 17th BImSchV (Ordinance on the Implementation of the Federal Immission Control Act), thus ensuring that it is future-proof and sustainable.

Construction work is scheduled to begin at the end of 2024, with completion of the final flue gas cleaning line planned for 2028. On behalf of Andritz AG, convex ZT GmbH is responsible for the civil works execution design and the civil works site supervision.
