NOISE PROTECTION WALL, LANGENWANG
Austria

In 2019, the S6 Semmering Expressway in the Krieglach to Langenwang area was subjected to a general rehabilitation. In the course of this work, the existing noise protection walls were also renewed/elevated and a total of around 2,500 m of new noise protection walls with an effective height of up to 4.0 m were erected. The noise protection walls are located along both directional lanes directly at the edge of the S6 motorway or moved away on the embankment and consist of highly absorbent aluminium cassettes and partly of transparent acrylic glass elements. The new pile foundation had to be matched to the remaining foundations of the old wall. A multitude of covered culverts and bridges required special solutions.

For the new noise protection walls along the S6 and S36 motorways, there is a uniform design concept by raum-werk-stadt architects, which had to be taken into account in the detail design. The special feature of this concept is the design of the walls with different numbers of bends in the cross-section.

On behalf of ASFINAG Bau Management GmbH, convex ZT GmbH prepared the entire detail design as well as the tender documents for the noise protection wall S6 Langenwang – Mitterdorf.
